Integrated Care for the Primary Care-Internal Medicine and Pediatric Practices
The Process is Here!
New, innovative services are provided to the Southern Myrtle Beach area through this practice addressing patient and physician concerns incorporating preventative and integrated medical/mental health care. Progressive medical practices utilize the trained mental health provider (MHP) to work toward patient mental wellness. This concept is being utilized nationally to ensure that patients attain wellness both medically and mentally.
Preventative medicine, as noted by studies with the US Preventative Task Force, emphasize that patients be screened for depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, ADHD, sleep patterns, pain concerns, and risk of suicide. Clinicians are then encouraged to follow the recommended guidelines for known anticipatory guidances which are age specific from the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.
Does your medical practice integrate this approach for use with their patients? Do you the patient receive education and monitoring by your physician when prescribed medications to treat depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns? Are you screened regularly with feedback on improvement of your known mental health concern or disorder? Some of these areas, if addressed in the practice, may provide improvement to the patient’s plan for improvement.
